The most outstanding infrastructure projects nominated for the ITA Tunnelling Awards 2015



ITA AWARDS 2015, A ONE DAY CONFERENCE WHERE SHORTLISTED PROJECTS AMONG OVER 110 IN 9 CATEGORIES WILL BE PRESENTED.

Lausanne, 19th of August, 2015

Next November 19th in Hagerbach, Switzerland, the international tunnelling and underground space community will get to discover the most outstanding and innovative infrastructure projects nominated for the ITA Tunnelling Awards 2015.  Up to now, over 110 projects from all over the world, performed between January 1st 2013 and February 2015, have been submitted to the 17 experts jury chaired by Soren Degn Eskesen, President of ITA.

“Such success reveals a solid need for contracting authorities, project managers and young engineers to hold more recognition at the international scale. Besides, our initiative is vital to encourage the sharing of best practices among tunnel professionals. Also, the Awards play an important role in serving the public interest, thanks to the identification of the most sustainable innovations to face urban and climatic challenges. With such promotion, the ITA Awards is to make our industry more visible and competitive”, ITA’s President Soren Degn Eskesen declared.

The submitted projects will be examined and assessed by the Jury from August 25th to September 10th. By the end of September, ITA will unveil the shortlist. The nominees will present their projects during the one-day conference organized at the Hagerbach Underground Conference and Exhibition. A good way for attendees to have an updated overview of the tunnelling activities around the world.  The winner of each category will be unveiled during the banquet on the same evening.

•           Outstanding Tunnelling Project of the Year - up to €50m
•           Tunnelling Project of the Year - between €50m and €500m
•           Major Tunnelling Project of the Year - over €500m
•           Renovation/Upgrading project of the Year
•           Technical Innovation of the Year
•           Environmental Initiative of the Year
•           Safety Initiative of the Year
•           Innovative Use of Underground Space
•           Young Tunneller of the Year
